In the past years Maars has provided the interior architecture for the Learning Center of the Shell Laboratory.

The partitioning systems are of the type string2 and are custom made, where a great part of the building's walls have a double acoustic function. The wood veneered partioning systems absorb and isolate the sound. Normally this would conflict with the acoustics, however Maars had found a way to adjust her partioning systems to have both of these acoustic characteristics. The expertise of Maars and the high demands of Shell appeared to be the perfect solution. In collaboration with OIII architects the design became a extrodernairy combination of warm wooden shades and glass with special treatment. The deployment has been smooth, and we have had a pleasant collaboration with the Belgium contractor Besix.
